Program Description:
This webinar will focus on palliative nutrition and will bring together a boarded nutritionist and a hospice/palliative care veterinary expert to focus on providing optimal nutrition for pets that may be more finicky and/or have physical or medical challenges that affect eating/food intake; optimizing nutrition to preserve quality of life, lean body mass, etc.; and addressing the owners’ needs to preserve and strengthen their bond with their pets (“food as love”) while still providing good nutrition. During the discussion, presenters will include tips for effectively communicating these concepts to an owner who is emotionally struggling with their pet’s condition.

Following this webinar, attendees will have a greater understanding of the following:
How chronic and terminal diseases can affect food intake through physiological and physical impacts
Optimal nutrition for pets that may be more finicky and/or have physical or medical challenges that affect eating/food intake
Optimizing nutrition to preserve quality of life, lean body mass, etc.; and addressing the owners’ needs to preserve and strengthen their bond with their pets (“food as love”) while still providing good nutrition
Effectively communicating these concepts to an owner who is emotionally struggling with their pet’s condition.
