Reptiles are kept in large numbers as non-traditional companion animals but pain management is complicated by variation in receptors to medications used for domestic species, and the lack of pharmacological and pharmacokinetic data on analgesics. The evidence base for different analgesic agents, as well as discussion of the methods of administration and possible adjunctive measures to aid mobility and support normal behaviours will be discussed.
