Cognitive dysfunction affects many senior pets, and navigating these changes can elicit questions and need for help from pet owners. In this session, attendees will review symptoms of cognitive dysfunction in dogs and cats. Attendees will also learn how to approach discussions regarding cognitive dysfunction changes with pet owners. Current medical management of cognitive dysfunction will be discussed. Approaches to environmental enrichment, challenging cognitive function and brainstorming with pet owners to provide mental stimulation in the pet's environment will be addressed in this lecture.
