In the veterinary field, you may have overheard colleagues say the words, it’s “just a euthanasia.” As those of us who work in the end-of-life care space know very well, it’s never just a euthanasia. Our goal should always be to strive for an ideal euthanasia process for the patient, family and the staff. In this lecture, we will discuss the differences and unique issues between three settings for euthanasia: general practice, emergency, and in-home. We will explore medical protocols, communication tips and aftercare recommendations.
