Urinary and fecal incontinence is relatively common in hospice and palliative care. It can significantly reduce Quality of Life for the patient and increases caregiver burden and distress. While it is rarely a resolvable issue particularly in the hospice and palliative care setting there are many things which can be done to manage it and mitigate impacts. These can include pharmaceuticals, environmental modifications, and other non-pharmacologic interventions.
