Whether it is a disease directly affecting the urinary system or nursing care involved with hospice, we are likely to deal with the urinary system in each hospice case in one way or another. Diseases involving the kidneys, ureters and bladder are common in hospice practice and include neoplasia, feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD), chronic kidney disease, urinary tract infections, and house soiling from cognitive impairment. We will discuss these various conditions as well as how to help families involved in the patient’s nursing care.
